PREFACE

  •           This is a brief history of the Vithayathil Family that came down from Kanjoor and settled in the island of Varapuzha that is also known by the name Edampadom. The island of Varapuzha is situated in the Paravur Taluk in the district of Ernakulam. This family later spread over the nighbouring villages of Puthenpally, Mannamthuruth, Olanad, Kongorpilly, Alangad and Cheranellore. At present the family is spread all over Kerala and outside India as well. And this is intended to cement the relation among the members of the family and to have at least a little knowledge of the family ancestors and to be inspired by thier lives. This indeed is the purpose behind making the history in the website

  •           We admit with a prick of conscience our inability to include all the families that live in different parts of kerala under the name Vithayathil. Having been convinced by our studies and research we have included in this history only those who are related to the ancestral family that had its origin in Varapuzha. Our studies and search for knowledge will continue and the pieces of information that we gather will be included in the history from time to time and the errors that may have crept in will be rectified.
  •           It was the Vithayathil Charities that first inspired us to write the family history. Rev. Fr. Joseph started working on it without delay and collected some facts about the family His work was of immence help in the writing of our first book named as "Vithayathil Family History" and we remember him with a whole lot of gratitude. Chev. Joseph Vithayathil too was deeply interested in the writing of the book. He provided us with a world of information from time to time and watched our creative activities with considerable interest and guided and prodded us up. Our whole heart goes out in gratitude to him. We remember Pandit Hormis also who desired a book of that kind and strove for it. Finally, we thank all the representatives employed by different units and the book. We our Family Members place on record our sincere thanks to Dr. George Vithayathil retired Prof. Mangalapuzha Seminary, Director St. Assisi U.P. School and Vicar St. Assisi Church, Athani for the sincere efforts taken for editing the said history of our family as the convener of the history committee Vithayathil Charities and its office bearers who have been supervising the activities involved in bringing out that book.
